Activities and Cost

Volunteers are generally responsible for organizing VISA’s, vaccinations, transport and any other travel related items. Occasionally, if you are coming via another organization, they may do some or all of this for you. Please confirm with your sending organization as to whether this is the case or not. UAC is not responsible for this aspect, but is more than happy to provide assistance where possible.

Cameroon VISA fees vary from country to country. As noted above, please confirm with the Embassy or High Commission as to the fees.

The preferred destination for flights into Cameroon for UAC is Douala, but prior arrangements can be made if the volunteer wishes to fly to Yaounde. This may incur additional costs, depending on the arrangement. For those volunteers arriving in Douala, transport to and from Douala International Airport is included in your overall fee.

Please note, as of January 2009, there are NO airport fees upon arrival. Many people will offer assistance and usually request money. Many times these individuals even look official. It is not recommended that you take this assistance, however, if you should choose to do so, only 1 – 2$ USD or 500 – 1000 FCFA should be sufficient.

Since March 2015, there is no more an airport tax of 10,000 CFA(local currency, about 20$ USD) for all departures. This is now factored in the cost of the flight. .

Note: If you are coming via Royal Air Maroc i.e. 3:30AM , the UAC volunteer coordinator will be there with the UAC van to pick you up and take you to Buea, but when coming you have to keep an extra 23.07 Euro i.e. 15000 FCFA for your hotel bill when going back home.

Due to the risk involved with traveling at night. the UAC team cannot afford to take you to the airport at 1 or 2 AM for you to get your flight back home. So the UAC team will take you early enough to a hotel besides the airport where you can spend the night before leaving for the airport. We wish to assure you that the hotel is not too far from the airport, it is just 5 minutes’ drive and the hotel has a bus service that is included in the hotel bill you pay. So please we plead with all those using this airline, to know that , that is what they are going to expect. It is for your and our own safety.

UAC Fees are the following**:

  • Two weeks: 130 Euro – 85000 FCFA
  • First Month: 240 Euro – 156000 FCFA
  • Second Month: 130 Euro – 85000 FCFA
  • Subsequent Months: 130 Euro – 85000 FCFA

**Some organizations have special agreements with UAC Cameroon which may result in different fees being paid.

UAC Fees include:

  • Housing (including basic facilities)
  • Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
  • Transport to and from Douala International Airport
