Community Development

At United Action for Children (UAC), we know that when a family faces hardship, children are always the most vulnerable. Healthy, stable families build strong, resilient children.

Initiated in 2009, our Livelihood Programme works directly with international partners to provide rural families with clean water, healthcare, agricultural tools, micro-credits, and enterprise equipment—improving living standards for over 250 families and impacting tens of thousands of community members across Cameroon.

Key Program Milestones & Impact Timeline

Water, Health & Sanitation

• Clean Water for Tinto & Nchemba 1 (2010–2011): Installed pipe-borne water systems in Tinto and Nchemba 1 in partnership with LiveBuild (Netherlands).

• Safe Water Filtration (2010): Distributed over 40 AquaBoxes (water filtration units) across rural Manyu Division with support from CART (England).

• Buea Campus & Community Borehole (2019): Drilled a deep borehole with One Day’s Wages, delivering clean drinking water to 700+ students and 2,700+ local residents.

• Village Sanitation & Medical Care (2007–2008): Partnered with DePauw University (USA) students and emergency medical teams to build 70 pit latrines in Etoko village and deliver healthcare to 3,000+ community members.

Agricultural Capacity & Women’s Empowerment

• Climate-Smart Demonstration Farm (2016): Partnered with Manos Unidas (Spain) to create a demonstration farm for 250+ women in Besongabang, providing seeds, plantain suckers, and essential farming tools.

• Crop Processing & Transport Infrastructure (2018–2019): Supported 250+ Besongabang women by constructing a crop storage warehouse and providing processing machines, tarpaulins, mobile phones, and a pickup truck to transport produce to market.

• Snail Farming & Livestock Projects (2009 & 2019): Constructed 20 snail farms in Etoko and Nchemba 2. Later built poultry and piggery farms with the FIFA Legacy Trust Fund to teach youth sustainable livestock management.

• Modern School & Community Garden (2020): Established a modern teaching garden with the Mentors Foundation (USA), growing fresh vegetables (lettuce, cabbage, eggplant) that supplied local families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Palm Oil Milling (2007): Donated 2 palm oil milling machines to Etoko and Nchemba 2, serving 2,500+ residents.

Micro-Credit & Relief Supplies

• Farmer Micro-Loans (2013): Disbursed micro-credit support to 45 local farmers in Nchemba 1 with help from a Swiss volunteer.

• Essential Material Distribution (2010–Present): Partnered with Crossroads Foundation (Hong Kong) (receiving a 40ft relief container) and CART (England) to supply rural families with clothes, home essentials, and educational resources.

Community Infrastructure & Sports Development

• School Classrooms (2008 & 2010): Built new classrooms for primary schools in Nchemba 2 (with DePauw University) and Banya village (with LiveBuild).

• FIFA Football for Hope Centre (2013–2014): Partnered with FIFA and the Streetfootballworld Network (Berlin) to construct the landmark Football for Hope Centre in Besongabang village.

• One World Futbol Distribution (2014): Distributed 11,070 ultra-durable soccer balls to youth organizations and schools across the South West Region.
